Research conducted by the American Psychological Association has found that senior citizens that become adept at using a computer are less likely to isolate themselves from society. The study conducted by Edward Cisek, Phd, and Kathleen Triche, DSW,CSW has shown computer literacy to be beneficial to an individuals overall mental health and motivates higher functioning in activities of daily living.
TCaware's Senior Access Computer Literacy Program places computers and monitors
in seniors' homes that connects them to the internet. Training and support is
provided on a one to one basis. Our desire is to provide every senior with access
to websites that increase public awareness of the energy industry, economic
improvements, and local issues that have an impact on their quality of life.
They will have an opportunity to interact on-line with senior centers, churches,
organizations, and city staff to meet their needs and/or volunteer for community
activities.
